The New York Yankees desperately want to find an upgrade at shortstop. Gleyber Torres (.259/.331/.366 in 2021) was a bitter disappointment both offensively and defensively, and general manager Brian Cashman recently said the team will address the position and keep Gleyber at second base, where he played in the stretch run.
Free agency is filled with talented shortstops, ranging from low-cost types such as Freddy Galvis to stars such as Marcus Semien, Javier Baez, Trevor Story, Corey Seager, and Carlos Correa. The last two are widely viewed as the best available, and the Yankees are apparently already trying to engage with their camps.
