Yankees agree to minor-league deal with Chris Parmelee

The Yankees finally have their insurance for Mark Teixeira, agreeing Sunday night to a minor-league deal with Chris Parmelee.

The 27-year-old, who can play first base and all three outfield positions, played 32 games for the Orioles last season after spending the first four years of his career with the Twins.

The left-handed hitting Parmelee broke the news of the agreement on his Instagram account late Sunday night, posting a picture of the Yankees’ logo with “So excited to start this new chapter. #Yankees#mlb” written underneath.

The Yankees have not yet made the signing official.

GM Brian Cashman has been in the market for first base depth since earlier in the month when Greg Bird, who spelled an injured Teixeira late last season, was lost for the year because of shoulder surgery.
