The Yankees made a minor move just before today’s trade deadline, sending right-handed reliever Joe Harvey to the Rockies in exchange for left-handed pitching prospect Alredo Garcia. For now, that is understood to be the extent of their deadline-day dealings.
Harvey, 27, appeared in nine games for New York this year, and didn’t look out of place. He allowed five earned runs in ten innings with 11 strikeouts. He maintained a 3.12 ERA in 26 innings with Scranton, striking out 38 batters in the process.
Garcia is a 19-year-old left-hander who was previously with the Rockies’ Low-A club, the Asheville Tourists.
