The wait is over: Gerrit Cole will make his season debut for the New York Yankees against the Baltimore Orioles on Wednesday.
The reigning American League Cy Young Award winner, on the injured list to start the season with nerve irritation and edema in his right elbow, will take the mound at Yankee Stadium following three rehab starts between Double-A and Triple-A.
Cole was dominant in his last outing Friday for Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, giving up one unearned on two hits with 10 strikeouts and no walks over 4u2153 innings.
