NEW YORK — Yankees right fielder Aaron Judge showed up to Yankee Stadium bright and early Tuesday morning hoping to talk his way into starting his first game since he suffered a fractured right wrist on July 26.
He told everyone that mattered – his manager, coaches, trainers and the GM – that he felt ready to go after hitting in a simulated game during Monday’s off day and he felt just as ready on Tuesday morning.
Mother Nature changed his fate.
Judge wasn’t in Aaron Boone’s original lineup for a scheduled 1:05 matinee against the Boston Red Sox, but the weather forecast for Tuesday afternoon was so bad that the Yankees decided around 9:30 a.
