The Yankees welcomed the Dodgers into town for a three-game set tonight and they unfortunately dropped the first game in ugly fashion. Making just his second start of the season, Bryan Mitchell was unable to repeat the success that he had last week against the Blue Jays. The Yankees did not do him any favors defensively, and the offense struggled to get anything going at the plate. It was an all-around bad game.
Mitchell got into trouble early, giving up back-to-back singles to Chase Utley and Corey Seager to start off the game.
