New York Yankee co-owner Hank Steinbrenner has died today after a long battle with an undisclosed illness. Joel Sherman of the New York Post reported that the disease had no connection to the coronavirus.
Long time owner George M. Steinbrenner died in 2010. At the time, it was assumed that his eldest son Hank would take over the reins of the team. But, Hank’s brother Hal who had gained increasing influence became the managing general partner. With the passing of Hank today, the management of the team goes to the remaining Steinbrenner family members, which consist of Hal and general partners Jennifer Steinbrenner Swindel and Jessica Steinbrenner, who also manages the family horse farm.
