X-Rays negative on Jacoby Ellsbury’s wrist

Yankees fans can exhale a bit.

CT Scans and X-Ray results came back negative on Jacoby Ellsbury‘s right wrist, according to Jack Curry of the YES Network; the Yankees have confirmed the test results. Ellsbury will likely be day-to-day after leaving Saturday’s game following a hit-by-pitch during the fifth inning.

Ellsbury was plunked by Braves starter Julio Teheran on the right wrist as manager Joe Girardi was explaining on the YES broadcast the importance of keeping the 32-year-old centerfielder healthy for 2016. Ellsbury was sidelined last year for almost two months after spraining his right knee and couldn’t recover to be the player he was before the injury.
