By the end, Alex Rodriguez had won Yankee Stadium back as the fans decided to celebrate one type of history and forget another.
Imagine, however, if A-Rod were playing a lot worse, but not quite badly enough that Yankees ownership would approve waiving him and eating all the money still owed Rodriguez through 2017. In that scenario, would you still have cheered A-Rod if he limped to 3,000 hits six weeks from now as a .235-hitting, part-time DH?
