TAMPA - The Yankees will honor Shannon Forde, the Mets' media relations director who died Friday after a lengthy battle with cancer, with a moment of silence before Saturday’s game against the Red Sox.
Willie Randolph, in Yankees camp as a guest instructor, worked closely with Forde, who was 44, during his time as manager of the Mets from 2005-08.
“I will always remember her as a tremendous human being, one of those women who quietly touched so many people’s lives. As manager of the Mets she was invaluable to me,” Randolph said. “Shannon was always smiling, always there to help with anything and everything.
