TAMPA -- While Yankees manager Joe Girardi ended one spring competition this week when he named Greg Bird the starting first baseman, Aaron Judge and Aaron Hicks seem to still be battling for right field.
Regardless of the outcome, what hitting coach Alan Cockrell has seen out of Aaron Judge has pleased him, Cockrell said on Thursday.
"He has looked a lot better," Cockrell said.
The New York Yankees have a problem without shortstop Didi Gregorius. They don't just lose an above-average glove, but a bat that's found pop and a strong combatant against lefty pitching.
