Why Yankees disappointment could be a 'game-changer' in 2018

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. -- The Yankees hoped Sonny Gray would serve as a game-changer when they paid a hefty prospects price to acquire him at the last trade deadline.

Manager Aaron Boone is holding out hope it happens in 2018.

"We're hoping that it just kind of all builds up momentum toward what we hope is a strong, healthy season for him," Boone said after a 3-1 loss to the Braves at Champions Stadium on Friday. "He can be a real game-changer."

Yanks' 5th starter race is over way earlier than usual

Gray showed why Boone could be optimistic Friday, holding Atlanta scoreless over 3 2/3 innings.
