SAN DIEGO — Dellin Betances and Andrew Miller just might be the two best relievers at a gathering of the best players in the sport.
By Fangraphs’ WAR, Betances was the majors’ best reliever in the first half, Miller was third (the Dodgers’ Kenley Jansen was second).
The Orioles were the only other club that truly had two relievers (Zach Britton, Brad Brach) at the All-Star Game. The Marlins had two also, but one (Fernando Rodney) was recently traded from the Padres. The Royals’ Kelvin Herrera replaced injured teammate Wade Davis.
The point is: The Yankees have the best closing combo in the sport at the All-Star Game, not even including their actual closer.
