Why Yankees are being extra careful with Aaron Hicks

Aaron Hicks (elbow flexor strain) was reevaluated on Monday and is doing well, according to manager Aaron Boone, but still two weeks from throwing.

“[The strain] being close to the UCL, we don’t want to risk anything,” Boone said Monday as the Yankees completed a doubleheader sweep of the Orioles.

“The only thing holding me back from baseball activities is throwing,’’ Hicks said before being re-examined.

Gary Sanchez went hitless in the first game on Monday and is 1-for-11 with five strikeouts since his return from the IL. He did not play in the second game and is in a 1-for-30 slide overall.
