Phil Nevin has known Aaron Boone since he was a child.
"I kind of grew up in the Boone house years ago," Nevin said.
That's a big part of the reason Nevin, the Yankees' new third base coach, said he knows that Boone will succeed as Joe Girardi's replacement as Yankees manager.
"I know he's going to be very good at what he's going to do," Nevin told the MLB Network's "Hot Stove" in December. "His attention to detail. The way he deals with people. He kind of commands a room when he walks in.
