The Yankees are getting a lot of play about possibly signing free agent Patrick Corbin, retaining J.A. Happ and talking to Seattle about James Paxton. They have been linked to the Indians’ Corey Kluber and Carlos Carrasco. But Sonny Gray still has trade value despite a poor 2018 season and general manager Brian Cashman has been blunt about dealing the right-hander.
Talent evaluators from three clubs who watched Gray this past season said there is a market that could deliver value for the 29-year-old right-hander despite his 11-9 record with a 4.90 ERA in 30 games (23 starts) this past season and the fact he was not on either of the Yankees’ two postseason rosters.
