After giving up three runs and five hits (one homer) April 13 to the Tigers in Detroit, Dellin Betances has returned to being the reliever who was an All-Star the past four seasons.
In seven games following that outing, Betances didn’t allow an earned run in 6 ¹/u2083 innings, over which he gave up four hits, struck out 13, walked two and held hitters to a paltry .174 batting average.
Sunday, the numbers would indicate Betances took a step back, but a closer look shows he suffered from bad luck instead of bad pitches or location in the eighth inning, his second frame of work.
