Greg Bird was dropped off for work Wednesday morning by his parents.
Not many major leaguers can say that.
Not many hit two home runs in the fifth game of their careers either, as Bird did in accounting for all four runs in the Yankees’ 4-3 win over the Twins at the Stadium, with mom and dad in the stands.
Bird got a curtain call and along the way propped up an entire scouting staff for the Yankees. The Yankees’ present is being helped by their future.
“This whole week has been crazy,’’ Bird said after his huge day.
