When Brian Cashman chairs the upcoming professional scouts meeting he may or not have Billy Eppler’s replacement on hand.
What the Yankees’ general manager will have is trusted scouts Tim Naehring and Jay Darnell in the room.
When Eppler, Cashman’s former assistant GM, was recently named the Angels’ GM, a buzz circulated that Naehring and Darnell would follow Eppler to California.
“That’s not true,’’ Cashman said Saturday. “They are under contract.’’
As for who replaces Eppler, who was Cashman’s assistant for four years and with the Yankees for 11, Cashman is working on it.
“I am thinking of a lot of different concepts,’’ Cashman said.
