Where we stand with muddled Yankees bullpen picture

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. — Ninety minutes before Wednesday’s game against the Braves at Champion Stadium, Joe Girardi said he would announce the Yankees’ Opening Day starter, the rotation order, the backup catcher and who was going to fill the final two spots in the bullpen.

After the game, in which relievers Andrew Miller and Bryan Mitchell were injured, Girardi was waiting on test results and still not sure what his pen looked like.

The Yankees’ area with the most intrigue is the bullpen, but that was the case even before the injuries.

Masahiro Tanaka is expected to face the Astros on Opening Day, Monday at Yankee Stadium, and Austin Romine will back up Brian McCann at catcher.
