TORONTO — Yankees manager Boone avoided using Gleyber Torres on Thursday night after the All-Star second baseman had tests in New York on Wednesday to find the cause for lower abdomen pain on his right side. He was forced out of games Sunday and Wednesday.
“We will go day-to-day with it,’’ said Boone, who started Breyvic Valera at second base for a second straight game and had planned just light work for Torres on Thursday. “Ramp him up [Friday] and see where he is at.’’
Boone said he was hopeful Torres could return to the lineup “sometime this weekend.
