BOSTON -- Maybe the Cubs' use of Aroldis Chapman in the World Series last year is, in fact, what's causing trouble for him now, manager Joe Girardi said.
"That's sometimes the cost of going a long way and deep into the playoffs, the extra wear and tear," Girardi said Saturday afternoon. "Sometimes it does catch up to you the next year."
Chapman's blown save in the ninth inning of Friday's 5-4 loss to the Red Sox at Fenway Park on Saturday was just the latest setback in what's been a rock year for the closer.
