What Yankees finally are doing to address AL-leading 18 errors

NEW YORK -- Yankees manager Aaron Boone finally is responding to watching sloppy baseball day after day with some punishment.

That's not what the rookie skipper is calling Friday's scheduled pre-game "defensive day," but that's what it is.

His club, after all, is the worst-fielding club in the majors.

The Yankees' 18 errors in 17 games lead the American League and their .971 fielding percentage is the worst in baseball.

That's why Boone is sending a message to his club on Friday by making them do spring training drills three weeks into the regular season.
