Mark Teixeira was in so much discomfort Tuesday, he was sent for more tests on his right leg after he fouled a ball off it Monday night during the Yankees’ 8-7 victory over the Twins.
X-rays Monday on Teixeira’s lower leg were negative, and a day later the first baseman and Yankees’ MVP to date underwent a CT-scan and an MRI exam that revealed a bone bruise.
Greg Bird, who began the season at Double-A Trenton and moved to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre before being promoted to the big leagues Aug. 13, filled in for Teixeira on Tuesday night against the Twins.
