Trout, this summer's All-Star Game Most Valuable Player, is in the running for American League MVP, too. Coming into Saturday Trout, from Millville, N.J., had 40 homers, was hitting .297 and was leading the league in slugging (.589) and OPS (.987.)
And he plays center field like that. The ball would have been a three-run home run for Seattle Mariners first baseman Jesus Montero.
