NEW YORK — While it seems almost certain that the Yankees will not catch the Red Sox for the AL East title, the Bombers were able to postpone Boston’s celebration by at least a day, after New York defeated their rivals, 3-1, at Yankee Stadium.
As usual, the Yankee offense once again started slow against Nate Eovalidi, who pitched six scoreless innings for the Red Sox.
In the seventh, however, when Boston’s bullpen was put in to relieve the righty, New York’s offense went to work.
First, against Brandon Workman, Aaron Hicks and Gary Sanchez worked walks before Ryan Brasier was inserted to face Neil Walker.
