NEW YORK -- The Yankees have interviewed veteran manager Eric Wedge to replace the recently-departed Joe Girardi, the team announced on Friday.
Wedge likely interviewed on Thursday, and is believed to be the second candidate the club has formally interviewed. Bench coach Rob Thomson also interviewed earlier this week.
Wedge managed in the major leagues for 10 seasons, compiling a 774-846 record (.478) record in stints with the Cleveland Indians and Seattle Mariners. Wedge most famously managed the Indians to a win over the Yankees in the 2007 American League Division Series.
