The most common names heard when talking about Yankees prospect Deivi Garcia are Pedro Martinez and Marcus Stroman.
Like Martinez and Stroman, Garcia is a short right-hander and he throws in the mid-90s.
The 20-year-old has a considerable distance to go before it can be determined if those comparisons prove to be accurate, but he’s already established himself in other team’s eyes as the Yankees’ top prospect — which means Garcia will get plenty more scrutiny before the non-waiver trade deadline on July 31.
Garcia hasn’t disappointed yet. He followed up a 15-strikeout, one-hit performance with Double-A Trenton with another gem on Monday, when Garcia tossed five hitless innings and fanned nine as part of a combined no-hitter against Reading.
