The Yankees’ 7-3 win over the White Sox on Wednesday night in Chicago was routine, but what happened to umpire Bruce Dreckman was anything but.
The second-base umpire went to the Yankees dugout before the start of the ninth inning to get what appeared to be a moth removed from his ear. Yankees trainer Steve Donohue helped Dreckman, but it was the umpire who took out the bug himself before calmly returning to the field with a smile on his face.
Kudos to Dreckman for keeping his cool after his freakish encounter with the insect.
