ARLINGTON, Texas — When a pitcher who had Tommy John surgery in April 2014 is removed after five innings in his sixth start of the season, there has to be concern.
There was concerning Ivan Nova Monday night when he told manager Joe Girardi his arm felt tired.
“In the short-term, a little,’’ Girardi said when asked if he was concerned. “In the long-term, no. It’s probably normal.’’
Nova said he is encouraged there is nothing seriously wrong with the hinge because he feels no pain.
“It felt a little tired and coming back from Tommy John I didn’t want to play with it,’’ said Nova, who posted the victory and is 3-3.
