LITTLE FALLS, N.J. — Upon hearing that his stash of 10 World Series championship rings and three Most Valuable Player Award plaques had been stolen from the museum and learning center in his name on the campus of Montclair State University last October, Yogi Berra responded with his brand of unpretentious wisdom.
“Well, I know I won them,” he said.
On Tuesday, in celebration of his 90th birthday, those material reminders of Berra’s Hall of Fame catching with the Yankees returned to the house that he made necessary. Displays with replicas of the stolen material were unveiled, as were other mementos, provided by Major League Baseball, the Yankees and the Mets.
