Trevor Hoffman couldn’t imagine pressure Rivera dealt with

Trevor Hoffman will enter the Hall of Fame with the second most saves in MLB history, behind only Mariano Rivera.

And on Thursday, a day after learning he was going to Cooperstown, Hoffman admitted he isn’t sure he would have survived in New York, as Rivera did.

“Just sitting up there with the bright lights on me, I couldn’t imagine the bright lights at Yankee Stadium on a night-in, night-out basis,” the former Padres closer said following a press conference at the St. Regis Hotel in Midtown. “I admired Mariano’s career from afar, from 2,500 miles away [in San Diego].
