CLEARWATER, Fla. — Estevan Florial’s impressive tool set was on display Thursday and had Yankees manager Aaron Boone drooling over what he saw.
The 21-year-old center-field prospect, who hits left-handed, singled sharply then swiped second base in the third inning of the Yankees’ 6-0 victory over the Phillies at Spectrum Field. He whiffed in the fifth, but what Florial did in the sixth got a rise out of his manager.
“I mean, wow. There is a short list of people who can hit a ball like that,” Boone said of Florial’s three-run blast to left-center. “I told that to Reggie Jackson on the bench, that it was a short list of guys, and he told me he was one of them.
