The Yankees acquired third baseman Todd Frazier and two relievers, David Robertson and Tommy Kahnle, in a trade with the Chicago White Sox late Tuesday.
The Yankees gave up reliever Tyler Clippard and three prospects: the left-handed pitcher Ian Clarkin, and outfielders Blake Rutherford and Tito Polo. Rutherford was the Yankees’ first-round draft pick last year.
Frazier, 31, has hit .207 with 16 home runs for the White Sox this season. He will most likely help the Yankees plug a hole in their infield, either playing at first base or filling in at third while Chase Headley, the team’s current third baseman, moves to first.
