If you went to bed early last night, you probably missed a surprising development. Alex Verdugo, formerly a member of the hated archrival Red Sox, is now currently slated to don pinstripes after the Yanks dealt for him. In exchange, New York passed on a trio of prospects, including a pair of arms close to the majors but with tough fits to make it onto the roster full-time in Richard Fitts and Greg Weissert. It’s an extremely rare trade between the hated rivals, and it’s left heads scratching on both sides.
We’ll have continuing coverage of the Verdugo trade rolling out throughout the day.
