The Astros’ rise to perennial contender has come with suspicion from their rivals.
The Yankees were the latest opponent to be frustrated by the Astros’ alleged tactics. The Yankees believe Astros players and/or coaches in the dugout were using whistles to signal hitters as part of a sign-stealing program during Game 1 of the ALCS.
The Astros repeatedly have been accused of in-game cheating in their past three dominant seasons, but have never faced any repercussions from the league. That continued Thursday. The Post’s Joel Sherman confirmed that MLB investigated the Yankees’ whistle accusations and found no evidence of activities prohibited by their policies.
