I’m going to go out on a limb here and say that the Cleveland series wasn’t the brightest spot of the Yankees’ 2017 season. Having been swept pretty handily, the Yankees’ record now stands at 70 wins and 62 losses, 5.5 games back of the Red Sox in the AL East. They still hold sole possession of the first Wild Card spot, but the competition grows more intense with each passing game. Minnesota is surging on the back of a long-awaited star turn by Byron Buxton, and they’re now within 1.5 games of the Yankees.
