Before the 2016 season, the Yankees officially ended the dark days of Stephen Drew and Brendan Ryan as starting second basemen by trading for Starlin Castro. It might come as a surprise to some that Castro hasn’t actually performed very well in 2016. Castro ranks just 19th in fWAR among qualified second basemen. Expand it to a minimum of 200 plate appearances and he falls all the way to 30th on the list. This offseason, the Yankees should take a look around the league to see who might be an upgrade over him.
