BOSTON -- Yankees first baseman Mark Teixeira has been sent back to New York for additional tests on his sore right leg, and manager Joe Girardi said that he is not expected back for this week's series against the Red Sox.
"He woke up today and was still sore, so we sent him back, kind of just to redo the tests to make sure," Girardi said. "We're not happy with where we're at, so we're just trying to get him healthy."
Teixeira has not appeared in a game since Wednesday, when he entered as a ninth-inning pinch-hitter.
