This week’s unrest in Baltimore hits close to home for Mark Teixeira. The Yankee first baseman grew up 30 minutes away, and he expressed concerns Tuesday for a family member living near the rioting and looting taking place in the downtown area.
“It’s terrible, there’s nothing else to say,” Teixeira said before Tuesday’s game against Tampa Bay. “My uncle is there, and he’s a Catholic priest. His church is being guarded by the National Guard. Just making sure that he’s OK is the biggest thing.
“I talked to my dad (Monday) night, and he’s doing fine. People start attacking churches, it’s a good thing the National Guard’s there, because that’s the bottom of the bottom.
