Maybe it’s a flair for the dramatic.
Or maybe he’s just clutch.
“I’ll take my chances when he’s up there in a big situation,” Yankees teammate Chase Headley said of Mark Teixeira who came through in the clutch again Saturday.
Having already driven in a first-inning run, Teixeira beat the Rays shift in the ninth squeezing a rocket between the defenders to right field for a double that led to the winning run in the Yankees’ 3-2 victory at the Stadium.
“That’s as hard as I can hit it,” said Teixeira who, with the game tied, 2-2, promptly was lifted for pinch-runner Jose Pirela who became the winning run two batters later.
