NEW YORK -- New York Yankees first baseman Mark Teixeira underwent a CT scan on his injured left foot Sunday, which came back negative, according to the team.
Teixeira was not in Sunday's lineup against the Boston Red Sox after he was hit in the left foot by a pitch in Saturday's game. X-rays taken after the game were also negative.
Yankees manager Joe Girardi was optimistic going into the testing that Teixeira's left foot was just sore and bruised.
Rob Refsnyder will start in Teixeira's place.
