If your passing prompts people to reach out to others and share their stories of you, then you probably did something right.
Exhibit A: Oscar Gamble.
The delightful outfielder for the Yankees and six other teams died Wednesday at the too-young age of 68, and the outpouring of reaction obviously wasn’t just about his talents as a player, which were pretty good in their own right. Both during his career and after his retirement, Gamble touched people with his joie de vivre.
I heard from two such people on Thursday, when news of Gamble’s passing broke.
