Rejoice, friends, Opening Day is one week from today! Only six more spring training games remain before the Yankees’ quest for 28 officially begins.
Meanwhile, the paring down of the roster continues. Prior to yesterday’s game versus the Orioles, the Yankees optioned Tyler Austin, Billy McKinney, Giovanny Gallegos, and Ben Heller to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
Manager Aaron Boone indicated that the team will go with a 13-man pitching staff to start the season. The final spot will likely go to Domingo German or Jonathan Holder.
