Sources: Yankees keep reliever Jonathan Loaisiga on 1-year deal

Right-hander Jonathan Loaisiga and the New York Yankees have agreed to a one-year contract with a team option for 2026, a source told ESPN's Jorge Castillo on Wednesday.

Loaisiga, 30, sat out most of the 2024 season after undergoing elbow surgery. He is expected be ready to pitch in late April.

The Loaisiga deal comes a day after the Yankees reached an eight-year, $218 million contract with two-time All-Star left-hander Max Fried.

Injuries have derailed Loaisiga over the past three seasons. He was limited to 17 appearances in 2023 after undergoing arthroscopic surgery to remove a bone spur in his right elbow.
