Right-handed reliever Tommy Kahnle and the Detroit Tigers are in agreement on a one-year, $7.75 million contract, sources told ESPN on Wednesday, fortifying a bullpen that was at the forefront of the team's surge to a postseason spot last year.

The 35-year-old Kahnle, whose deal is pending a physical, is coming off a strong season with the New York Yankees in which he posted a 2.11 ERA in 42.2 innings. Over the last two seasons, Kahnle has a 2.38 ERA, the 11th best in MLB among pitchers with at least 80 innings.
