Sonny Gray will be coming off his two best starts of the season when he takes the mound Friday, just in time to face his former team for the first time.
Gray was a first-round pick by the A’s and spent the first four seasons of his career in Oakland before he was traded to the Yankees last July.
Any emotions the right-hander might be feeling about going up against the team that drafted him in 2011, though, seem to be overshadowed by Gray’s desire to continue the turnaround to his season — and the Yankees’ recent winning ways.
