Chase Headley spent an hour before Tuesday’s game watching video of his swing from 2012, when he tore up the National League, in an effort to figure out why he hadn’t been able to hit for any power lately.
And after going homerless in 105 at-bats, Headley finally hit the 100th of his career on Tuesday. But it wasn’t enough to prevent a third straight Yankees’ loss, 11-6 to the Phillies.
The pregame work didn’t help his defense, however. Headley made his 16th error of the season and was unable to come up with Maikel Franco’s shot down the third-base line in the ninth that drove in two runs and gave the Phillies the lead for good.
