When Brian Cashman disclosed on Sunday that the Yankees had been eliminated from the Ohtani sweepstakes, I had nearly completed a lengthy Ohtani profile to run in the front (news side, as we call it) of The Post this week. I had spent much of this past week interviewing people who know the Japanese pitcher-outfielder and reading up on the few English-language interviews the 23-year-old has conducted.
