After I finished up Tuesday night track with my running club, I noticed this text from Squawker Jon: "Eovaldi gave up 8 runs in 2/3 inning." To which I thought, "Brian Cashman sure is a supergenius, isn't he?"
Tuesday night's game against the Miami Marlins was a matchup of two pitchers Cashman traded for each other -- Nathan Eovaldi and David Phelps. And in a shocking (well, not really) turn of events, Eovaldi stunk up the joint, while former Yankee Phelps pitched very well, giving up just two runs and six hits over seven innings, and the Marlins beat the Yankees, 12-2.
